The phone is fastest

If we are on the range or running a class we will not pick up, so leave a message and we will call you back. Say which course you are asking about and we will have the dates in front of us when we ring.

Questions

The ones we get most

Do I need a pistol permit before I take the course?

No, it works the other way around. The course comes first. You finish the classroom hours and the live fire, we issue your certificate, and that certificate goes in with the application you file through your county.

How long is the Basic Pistol course?

New York requires 16 hours of classroom instruction and 2 hours of live fire, so 18 hours in total. Call and we will tell you how the next session is scheduled across days.

How long is my permit good for once I have it?

Three years. After that New York requires you to re-certify.

Do you teach private groups?

Yes. We will bring the Basic Pistol Safety Course to your location for groups of six or more, which works well for families, clubs, and workplaces. Call to set it up.

How do I reserve a seat?

Call (518) 634-2905. Seats are limited and classes fill, so earlier is better than later.

Where do I actually file the application?

Through your county licensing officer. Licensing is handled county by county in New York and the paperwork is not identical everywhere, so ask us and we will point you at the right office for Greene County.
